Brewing Kits
- Acadia Altbier: German-style “old beer” with lager-like crispness and amber color. Tends to condition for an extended period.
- Autumn Almanac: Spiced brown ale (ginger, cloves, cinnamon, and allspice – pumpkin optional). Ages well.
- Bangor-to-Brussels Stout: Belgian-style stout. Nice dark fruit from Belgian yeast, and smooth sweetness from candi syrup. A nice twist on the stout style.
- The Bee’s Knees Honey Brown Ale: Way-smooth brown ale with the right amount of honey sweetness.
- BGR Belgian Golden Ale: Spicy, fruity, and incredibly drinkable. A great “gateway” Belgian ale.
- The Big One Barleywine: Our biggest beer. Heavenly combination of sweet malt and super hops. Not your typical barleywine – drinks a little too easily!
- Big Triple in Little City: Belgian Tripel style. Beautiful golden color with dry malt finish. Hints of Belgian candi sugar and spice from the yeast.
- Black Ice Black Lager: Wicked dark, wicked smooth. Smooth lager flavor without the roasted qualities of other dark beers. Can also be made as an ale.
- Bonton Ferry Black IPA: A contradiction in terms, perhaps, but a tasty contradiction nonetheless. Fragrant hop profile and a slight roasty body. Simcoe hops really shine in this beer.
- Brady Gang’s Notorious Double IPA: This is what it sounds like: double the malt, double the hops, double the ABV, double the goodness. With a Belgian yeast for added excitement.
- Broadway Brown Ale: Nice malty brown ale with authentic Thomas Fawcett brown malt.
- California Dreamin’ West Coast IPA: Think Sierra Nevada and other West coast breweries. Citrusy hops own this one, which finishes nice and dry.
- Cedar Street Cedar-Aged IPA: Essentially our California Dreamin’ IPA with the addition of Maine-grown cedar chips added to secondary.
- Central Street Czech Pilsner: Classic Czech pilsner clone with loads of mellow, grassy Saaz hops. Can also be made as an ale.
- Downtown Dunkel: Dark wheat beer with banana and clove overtones.
- Epic Special Bitter: English pale ale bordering on IPA territory (though with English hops). Super easy to drink, crowd-pleasing, and ready fast. One of our most popular kits.
- Exit 183 Wit Beer: Along the lines of Blue Moon or Allagash White, this spiced wheat beer mixes bitter orange and cardamom seed with a Belgian yeast for a fruity yet spicy flavor profile.
- Get Behind Me, Gluten!: Our signature gluten-free beer uses sorghum syrup instead of malt extract. Orange peel, cardamom seed, and Belgian yeast contribute great aroma and flavor to this quaffable brew.
- Hammond Street Hopburst: An experimental IPA where all of the hop additions are withheld until the end of the boil. We use the lemony Sorachi Ace hop, which makes this a crisp blast of citrus.
- Juniper-Ginger Pale Ale: Light, refreshing pale ale made with a small amount of juniper berries and ginger root. Just the right amount of spice makes this a tasty treat!
- Just Add Fruit: A basic hefeweizen kit that allows you to choose a fruit flavoring.
- KahBang! Cream Ale: The closest you’ll get to an American macro-brew as a homebrewer. Straw-colored, thin body, made possible by the addition of rice and corn.
- Kenduskeag Kolsch: As close as you can get to a lager in a short time span, and with an ale yeast. Super crisp, light colored, and seriously delicious.
- Nog Grog Spiced IPA: Our idea of an eggnog IPA. Spicy hops are paired with cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla, and oak for a flavor that is both novel and undeniable.
- Old Raskolnikov Russian Imperial Stout: This ain’t your father’s stout. Lots of malt, hops, and adjunct grains means this kit is bursting at the seams with intense flavor. Sure to keep you warm during the cold winter months.
- Paul Bunyan Oatmeal Stout: A full pound of oatmeal goes into this smooth, roasty stout, creating creamy mouthfeel and thick head.
- Penobscot Blue Ribbon: The official homebrew recipe of the 2011 Maine Homebrewers Competition’s grand prize beer. This rye IPA is loaded with hops, spicy rye flavor, and the right balance of maltiness.
- Penobscot Smoked Porter: Dark, malty English porter with just the right amount of smoked malt to create a mild “bacon beer” flavor.
- Pickering Square Pale Ale: Crisp, clean American-style pale ale with a grapefruity hop profile. A perfect any-time-of-year beer.
- Queen City Red Ale: Malt-forward ale with English hops and deep red color. Easy to make and even easier to like.
- Six Mile Falls Saison: Americanized Saison kit with Ahtanum hops and a liquid saison yeast. One of the most popular styles of this year – perfect for a hot summer day.
- Twice Spiced Abbey Weiss: A wheat beer with a Belgian Abbey ale yeast spiced with coriander and chamomile flowers.
- Ulysses Dry Irish Stout: Our Guinness-esque stout uses a small amount of acidulated malt, which adds to the beer’s dry tang.
- Waterfront Summer Rye: Pale lager-like ale with hints of malt complexity and spiciness from the rye. Lemon peel promotes a summery citrus flavor.
- West Market Hefe: Nice cloudy wheat beer with huge frothy head. Choose between German and American style wheat beer yeasts.
